Financial Controller - circa 50k

My client is currently recruiting for the position of Financial Controller within their London office. This is an extremely exciting time of growth and development in the UK for my clients who are keen to employ someone used to working in 'start-up' environments.

The Financial Controller will have full responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of financial statements.

The Financial Controller role will involve:

Becoming familiar with all of the duties of your staff including: Payroll, Fixed Assets, Reporting, Purchase Ledger, Retail Operational Support
Occupancy accounting - gain full understanding of all property leases in order to properly account for period rent expense and manage relationships with landlords (including rent review/escalations, as they occur and service charge audits).
Account for other occupancy related expenses such as utilities, property tax rates, and repairs and maintenance.
Insurance - provide information to insurance brokers and ensure proper insurance coverage is maintained, account for period insurance expense and insurance payments.
Responsible for expatriate payroll and allowance payments, taxation and internal reporting requirements
Prepare, analyze and interpret period end financial reports, including preparation of periodic reconciliations supporting accruals and prepayments.
Partner with retail location Team Leaders, explaining financial results and gathering operational performance information
Provide information to the Central Tax Team and outside accountants for use in preparation of tax returns and other Inland Revenue matters
Assist in the preparation of the UK Statutory Accounts.
Compile schedules for UK statutory audit and periodic audit reviews under US group reporting
Participate in yearly budget preparation

The ideal Financial Controller will be:

ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified
Thorough understanding of balance sheets vs income statement (P&L) accounting
Practical experience in reconciliation of receivables, liabilities and fixed asset accounts
Knowledge of UK accounting standards including VAT
Experience in leading a team
Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously and prioritise
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented position
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Advanced Excel skills
Ability to succeed in a growing and changing environment
Positive, can do attitude
