Our Client, an award winning Financial Consultancy requires an ABS Technical Manager to provide audit and accountancy technical support to the various assurance and business services departments.
The ABS Technical Manager's duties:
Ongoing development of the audit approach specific to financial services based clients. Ensuring procedures comply with current best practice and regulations. Review and update effectiveness and efficiency of processes. To ensure approach is applied consistently in all offices to minimise risk associated with incorrect or out of date procedures.
Providing guidance on compliance with technical standards through the operation of a 'hot line' for queries
To provide training on audit and accountancy related matters on internal courses and support for external seminars
To assist in the co-ordination and performance of both the annual quality monitoring review and regular quality monitoring reviews of specific compliance areas as required
To monitor emerging issues and keep staff advised of regulatory developments. To develop our technical resource base through the library and electronic sources
Determining level of guidance required on new regulatory rules and pronouncements
Production of technical articles for both internal communication and external marketing
The ABS Technical Manager will:
Have good working knowledge of accounting and auditing standards and their application. Some practical experience of either developing or introducing new procedures.
Have good working knowledge of UK financial services regulation (FSA) and accounting requirements specific to FS industry i.e.:~FSA Handbook ~Appropriate SORPs (i.e. Investment Trusts)
Have general understanding of changes arising from the implementation of EU regulatory changes (i.e. MiFID/CRD)
Have strong Presentation skills - ranging from small groups to larger audiences
Have Project management and experience of getting things implemented in practice.
Have good drafting skills
